Funakoshi Gichin

"The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants."

"When you look at life think in terms of karate. But remember that karate is not only karate -- it is life"

"Just as it is the clear mirror that reflects without distortion, or the quiet valley that echoes a sound, so must one who would study Karate-Do purge himself of selfish and evil thoughts, for only with a clear mind and conscience can he understand that which he receives."

Funakoshi Gichin (1868-1957)

New black belts for Sui-Shin-Kai & Sen-Shin-Kai

We are delighted to announce that both Sen Shin Kai and Sui Shin Kai Cahir have new black belts after the recent dan(black belt) grading on the 8th November 2009 in Mayfield. Aisling Fiuza and Shane Phillips bothfrom Sen Shin Kai received their Shodan grades while William English from Sensei Mick Power's Sui Shin Kai club also received his Shodan. All performed excellently on the day and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them all. The Shodan grade marks the culmination of at least four years of hard work for the guys and hopefully it also marks the beginning of many, many more years of hard training to come for them. Well done to all. OSS!!
